Megan's Story
Megan Flynn has more than a decade of marketing experience, ranging from event planning and public relations to website design and digital advertising.
Megan Flynn grew up in Kansas and was immersed in small business from an early age. Her first memories of small business are watching her mother bake at her family’s restaurant—which her great grandmother had started in 1949—surrounded by many of her extended family members. By the age of 13, she was employed as a hostess and cashier. As a teenager, she taught herself HTML and CSS and launched her own web and graphic design company to help local businesses develop their online presence.Â
Megan moved to Washington, D.C. for college in 2007 and received her bachelor's degree in Political Science and CLEG (Communications, Legal Institutions, Economics, and Government) from American University in 2010.
After graduating, Megan joined M+R Strategic Services as an Online Associate where she ran cutting-edge marketing campaigns for national nonprofit organizations. She soon transitioned into a new role as Senior Social Media Specialist, helping organizations design and execute strategies to grow their base, forge new relationships, and showcase the organization’s work in order to deepen supporter involvement. She also worked with clients to develop engaging and accessible materials, including infographics and websites.
In April 2012, Megan joined Rescue, a behavior change marketing agency. In her role as the Director of Youth Engagement & Policy, she was responsible for leading a talented team of 18 campaign managers and field organizers to plan and execute public health marketing campaigns. During her tenure, she directly worked on every step of the campaign process—including strategy development, messaging and materials creation, marketing and communications strategy, earned media tactics, event planning, and more. As both a department director and member of Rescue's Senior Management Team, she regularly developed and implemented internal systems to create efficiencies across the department and company.
Above all, Megan loves a good challenge and thrives on analyzing problems—no matter how ambiguous—to determine the best solutions. Megan currently lives with her husband and daughter in the Petworth neighborhood of Northwest Washington.
